LOOM KNIT

A real twist to your scarves. The Curly Q scarf implements short-rows to create the twists all over the scarf. The pattern was created on a small gauge knitting loom, however, many have been knitted on the Knifty Knitter looms.

Materials

Knitting loom: Knitting loom in small gauge (1/2″ from center to center of peg) with at least 20 pegs.  The small gauge sock loom from Décor Accents, Inc. was used in sample.

Yarn: 250-400 yards of worsted weight wool or wool blend yarn. Smart Mohair by Berroco was used in sample.

Notions: Knitting tool; 6 peg markers or rubber bands, preferably 3 of one color and 3 of different color.

Skills Knowledge: Knit stitch, purl stitch, flat panel knitting.

Loom knitting has gained popularity over the past few years. It provides a way to create knitted fabric without the use of knitting needles. The dexterity needed for using a knitting loom is minimal, making them the perfect tool to learn to knit for both children and adults. Next time you are at your local craft store, pick up a set of knitting looms and a skein of yarn and take a couple of hours to create a hand knit heirloom.

The patterns in this website have been created over a period of time using some of the most popular knitting looms on the market, such as Provo Craft's Knifty Knitters and Decor Accents, Inc. The designs were created by Isela Phelps, author of Loom Knitting Primer: a Beginner's Guide to Loom Knitting.

A little capelet to keep the chill away. Worked in short-rows to create a semi-circular shape in the back.

Knitting Loom: Large gauge knitting loom with at least 30 pegs. Sample was knit using the Yellow Knifty Knitter loom (round).

Yarn: 200 grams of Bulky Weight yarn. Rowan Big Wool was used in sample, 2 skeins.

Another simple addition to your home decor! The Simple Pillow has a garter stitch border at each side and the center is completely worked in stockinette stitch. Worked with a super chunky yarn, you can have one of these pillows done in an afternoon.
